Bow Thruster Project
A recent marine project was the installation of a bow thruster unit on a 28ft fibre glass fishing vessel.
The client requested this installation to improve the manoeuvrability of his vessel within the confines of the harbour.
In order to install the unit a 120mm hole was bored from one side of the hull through to the other and a fibre glass tube bonded and glassed in place. A hatch was also installed so that access could be gained from within the wheel house where the thruster motor was to be mounted.
Having glassed the tube in place I then flared the forward edges of the tube aperture on both sides in order to reduce water drag when the vessel is underway.
